Leo Dalla

Start training Jiu-Jitsu in 1987 at age of 13, in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil under Jorge Pereira, passing through all the belts (Yellow – Orange – Green – Blue – Purple – Brown – Black). Known in Brazil and throughout the World simply as “DALLA” he is one of the most well respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters and instructors in the World.

Having a very successful competition history in Brazil from Yellow to Brown belt Dalla became the very first student to receive a Black Belt under Jorge Pereira in June 1993. His instructor Jorge Pereira received his Black Belt from the Legendary Rickson Gracie. Once receiving his Black Belt Dalla continued to compete showing that he is amongst the best in the World.

He has dedicating his life into teaching the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the past 14 years, and now he has moved to America at the request of his very first Black Belt student Lloyd Irvin to open a school in Virginia to develop the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Virginia area.

Dalla has been a very active competitor, nationally and Internationally having been a medalist in some of the biggest tournaments the sport has to offer.

Even now Dalla still lays it on the line competing in Local, National and International events. It is a rare breed when you can find a BJJ Black Belt instructor that not only competes but is also a great Teacher.

Luiz Guilherme de Jesus “Guigo”

Luiz Guilherme was born on the 2nd of October, 1974 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He started training jiu jitsu as a 6 year old child, with his master Jorge Pereira, a student of the legendary Rickson Gracie. He gradated as a black belt in 1997 when he was 22 years old after many years competing successfully in the lower belt divisions.

In 1996 he took the opportunity to come to Sao Paulo and teach in the State Capital. “Guigo” already taught as an assistant at his coache’s gym, but this was his opportunity to shine on his own, and shine he did as both a competitor and a coach.

His highest moment as a competitor was probably the 1997 “Mundials” final against Artur Ignarra from Nova Uniao, a fight he won to achieve the greatest medal possible in BJJ, the World Gold Medal. Today Guigo has awarded several black belts himself, and runs a successful ever growing team with over 10 affiliates – See website here.

Mike Moses

Big Brothers BJJ Blackbelt

Mike Moses is the Owner and Head Instructor of Evolve Academy of Martial
Arts in Gaithersburg, Maryland where he teaches over 450 students in
Personal Defense Systems, Thai Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Primal Skills Fitness and Women’s Self Defense. Mr. Moses holds five Black Belts in various martial arts, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Personal Defense Systems, Shotokon, Tae Kwon Do and Kempo. Mike also provides bi-annual Functional Combat Training to Marine recruits and is nationally recognized for his specialized instruction in martial arts and self-defense training.

Chad LeBrun

Coach LeBrun has been training BJJ since 1997 and has trained under Professors Jacare Calvalcante, Renzo Gracie, and Leo Dalla, who he received his black belt from.





Douglas Esposito

Doug has been training, studying, and coaching martial arts for over thirty years. As a professional instructor, his experience teaching adults has included curriculum design at all levels and literally thousands of hours of formal instructional training and coaching. While on active duty he was the Head Instructor for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program’s lead school in Quantico, VA and was a combatives instructor for over five years for the Marines. He has extensively trained in Weapons Handling (firearms, bladed, and others), Combative Engagements, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Grappling, Thai Boxing , and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), in which he is a Black Belt under the world famous Leo Dalla. His competition resume includes an undefeated Thai boxing record and multiple Pan-Am medals at the black belt level.

Kelly Grissom

Kelly Grissom is a retired Marine with combat tours in both Iraq (2004) and Afghanistan*(2005-06) who started training in Judo in Okinawa, Japan in 1990 while stationed there as a young Marine. He continued to train in Judo, to include competing for the now defunct, Marine Corps Base Quantico Judo Team, until the demise of the Marine Judo program. Kelly holds a Nidan (2nd degree black belt) in Judo, recognized by the USJA and USJI.

In 2002, Kelly was introduced to Leo Dalla Black Belt, and his first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor, Professor Chad LeBrun of the LAB Martial Arts Academy in Fredericksburg, VA. Under Professor LeBrun’s guidance and teaching, Kelly earned his blue belt from Master Dalla in 2003.

From 2004 to 2008, Kelly trained in Honolulu and Kaneohe, Hawaii under Professor Relson Gracie and Relson’s Black Belt instructor, Ronn Shiraki, as well as with Relson’s then Brown Belt instructor, Mark Kurano. In 2007, after 3 ½ years at Relson Gracie’s academy, Kelly earned his purple belt from Professor Helio Gracie’s second oldest son, Relson.

In 2008, Kelly returned to the Northern Virginia area and resumed his training with Master Dalla.  Kelly is a black belt under Leo Dalla.

Efrain is a black belt under Coach Douglas Esposito. He represents Vanguard Gym and Big Brothers Competition Team in the Yuma, AZ area and coaches at Rogue Wave BJJ.
